The 2nd EU Directive on money laundering (2001) brought accountants in to the regulated sector, while the Money Laundering Regulations 2007 made clear the responsibilities accountants have to help combat the problem. We look at what exactly accountants are obliged to know; when accountants need to report any suspicious money laundering activity; and, how important it is to keep up-to-date with anti-money laundering training.
